A good result all around?

Although I’m sure we'll be kicking ourselves as we could have won both matches.

the 1st team drew 14-14 away, the home side took a 14-0 lead going into half time. Oaks came back in the second half with a much Improved attitude and defence. Andy Porter grabbing his first try for Plymstock, then George Hamblin 10 minutes later getting his first try. Both converted by Tom Richards. This is a game that the first team should have won, with 9 points being missed by kicks. But a result away from home with one of the favourites to be promoted can only be positive sign of things to come.

Meanwhile the second team drew 24-24 with Withycombe 2 XV

Report by Simon light:

oaks playing there 1st game in 3 weeks welcomed Withycombe to the tropical Horsham fields for what turned out to be a very tight even contest as the score line suggests. oaks found themselves under the cosh for the 1st 10-15 mins but the defence held firm and after pouncing on a couple mistakes by Withycombe turned the ball over and scored 2 quick tries up the wings by Joe Brearley and Tom Jordon but that still didn't settle the nerves and straight away withy got on the score board after a mix up from the restart that saw them crash over in the corner. when oaks got the ball out wide they looked dangerous but in the middle of the park the withy back row was causing us problems with some very strong runs that wasn't being dealt with by the oaks defence but another turn over seen oaks race in under the sticks with young Jack Green touching down to bring up halftime. the 2nd half and both teams really went at it and gave everything they had but oaks found themselves guilty of butchering a number of chances that would of seen the game out and let withy get of sniff of a win by scoring 2 close range efforts and putting oaks right under the cosh but young 10 Olly Whitfield found himself gliding through the withy defence to touchdown and give oaks a bit of breathing space but with time running out withy managed to breach the oaks defence 1 last time to bring the scores level and end the game 24-24.a game we prob should of wrapped up by the 50-60 min mark but was left hanging on for a draw in the end. good to get a game under are belts after a few weeks lay off we regroup again for next week and look to improve in the areas we need to and keep marching on
