The Plymstock Oaks Girls Section is celebrating a major milestone after being officially recognised by England RFU as one of the fastest‑growing girls’ sections in the country during the second half of the 2025/26 season.

This achievement reflects the incredible commitment shown by players, coaches, volunteers and families across all age groups. The girls’ programme has expanded rapidly, with strong recruitment, excellent retention, and a thriving environment that continues to attract new players to the sport.

As part of the recognition, the club has been awarded £1,000 in Gilbert vouchers, which will be invested directly into new equipment to support player development and enhance training sessions. Coaches are already reviewing options to ensure the funding benefits every age group within the girls’ pathway.

“We’re incredibly proud of how far the girls section has come,” said Connor Thomson, Women & Girls Lead. “This recognition from England RFU means a great deal to everyone involved and highlights the hard work happening week in, week out.”

The Oaks Girls Section continues to welcome new players whether completely new to rugby or already passionate about the game. The programme focuses on building confidence, developing skills, forming friendships and creating a supportive, inclusive environment for all.
